Minor adjustment

One day in and already a minor adjustment to the rules.
I just can't read only one book per genre.

Today I felt like devouring all books on the subject of Africa. Tomorrow I might feel more like reading about science or a good old novel. No harm in this, is there.

So.Limiting the amount of books to read at a timeto 5. Just 5. From whatever genre that may be.

one year || 36 books

After I panicked about the prospect of having to read a whopping amount of 36 books in just one short year, i realized -with the help of a friends calculation- that 36 books aren't that many after all. Comes down to about 20 pages per day. Not that bad.

Really, how many books have you read in school? How long was the required reading list in college? How many books have you read in your lifetime?

36 is not that big an amount.

Just taking it step by step, page by page.
And trying not to forget that i love to read.

Fiction, History, autobiography/memoir, current afairs, short story & misc

Only read one book per category at a time.

What I was

A couple of years ago i bought a book solely bassed on the first sentece.

Page one.

"I am a century old, an impossible age, and my brain has no anchor in the present. Instead it drifts, nearly always to the same shore." -from 'What I was' by Meg Rosoff

Sold.

And with great determination i walked to the cassiere. Bought the book and in the end hardly read beyond that first sentence.

I own a lot of books, even after the great move of 2008, prior to which i sold many of them. There's a stack of books waiting to be read or finished, yet i still buy new books. It has to end.

Twenty years from now I would love to have library in my home, just like my parents have. But I would hate to see the shelves filled with books I still have to read. Instead I would love the shelves to be filled with books I've read so I can search for the next best thing without guilt and with much pleasure.
